Brynn & Jeff - Langdon Farms Portland Wedding
Brynn and Jeff had their beautiful ceremony at St. Anne’s Chapel at Marylhurst University followed by a wonderful reception at Langdon Farms. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect Portland Spring wedding. Brynn & Jeff are both graduate students at the University of Washington that went to Oregon State University for their undergrad. You never really know what you’re going to get when it comes spring weather in the Pacific Northwest; but for Brynn & Jeff…running the risk of rain and moving forward with a spring wedding was the perfect decision. The first weekend of spring break was the only weekend in the entire year they knew they could both have the weekend and week following off for a wedding and honeymoon. Brynn’s parent’s also had a March wedding, which made a spring wedding extra special. This wedding was so delightful from beginning to end. It was easy to see that their families and “legacy” plays a huge roll in their lives and they were faithful to honor that on their wedding day. Between having no parents of my own, and the huge responsibility of raising 4 kids to be decent and successful (hopefully awesome) human beings, I cannot get enough of weddings. Seeing generations come together, remembering loved ones who paved the way, and hope for the future…it just doesn’t get much better than that.
Knowing a lot of couples come to our site when they are planning their big day, I asked Brynn to answer a few questions about their wedding day:
Could you give me any details on the contents of this beautiful box?
A few months before our wedding, my grandmother on my father’s side gave me a box labeled: “For Brynn, Old, Blue, and Borrowed” along with the garter she wore on her wedding day, and her parent’s small New Testament bibles. The box contains many mementos from my great-grandparent’s wedding in 1931 including the handmade cake topper figurines, the pink ribbon on my great-grandmother’s bouquet, pink and white ribbon from her garter, and a small book-shaped box that contains the 1920 penny that she wore in her shoe for good luck. My great-grandparents were married for over 50 years.
Also, do you have any stand-out memories of the day?
Jeff and I are really blessed to have many memories with our grandparents. All four of my grandparents and Jeff’s last living grandparent (maternal grandfather Grandpa Mel) were able to attend. Three especially sweet moments for me involved these special people:
1. Jeff and I are really inspired by my maternal grandparent’s faith. It was such a special moment to have my Grandpa Dave pray before our meal, and we now have that prayer framed and in our bedroom.
2. My maternal grandparents have been married for 57 years, we were able to honor and celebrate that commitment they made to each other and God during the anniversary dance at our reception.
3. Jeff’s last living grandparent, his maternal grandfather Grandpa Mel, was able to attend our wedding ceremony. He passed away a month after our wedding, so the memories and pictures we have with him from our wedding day are really special to us.
Your favorite part of the day?
Besides the “getting to marry my best friend in front of family, friends, and God” part, we had two favorite parts of our wedding:
1. Taking communion together during our wedding ceremony was a really sweet time for us. It was really the only time during the day we had together just the two of us.
2. Having an awesome dance floor was really important to us. We knew we could count on our friends to keep the party going, but our DJ did an awesome job and even got a lot of our family out on the dance floor.
