Hailing from beautiful Colombia and having completed university, Kate was living and working in the Pacific Northwest as an au pair (notice Sydney…the gorgeous little lady that never wanted to be far away from Kate at the wedding). Brady, is a hard working, life loving financial adviser out of Gig Harbor, Washington. Looking to practice her English and make new friends, Kate joined Tinder. It wasn’t long before Brady & Kate met. After 4 months of dating, Kate knew…Brady was the one. She puts it this way: ” I had never felt loved by someone in the way that Brady showed his love for me. We really connected mentally since the beginning. His love for God and convictions made me realize he was the person I wanted to spend my life with, despite our big language and cultural differences.” As soon as she realized she was going to be by his side forever, she started writing in a journal. She wrote in that journal for A YEAR and had it delivered to Brady on their wedding day. On the first page she wrote: “I know you are the person I will marry. I don’t know when, but I can’t see my life without you in it”. *In case you were wondering, Brady was not the only one crying at that moment. It was the best.

Brady & Kate had a beautifully intimate wedding right on the Puget Sound at The Edgewater House. Surrounded by friends and family from near and far, their special day was filled with amazing food, drinks, memories shared over camp fire, and an epic firework farewell. I was able to connect with Kate some time after the wedding and I was curious to know what her favorite part of the day was. She said hands down it was, “Seeing Brady on the beach. The first look of each other. I was very excited and happy for marrying him, so I felt like it was the only part of the day when I was able to be “alone” with him and just enjoying those minutes to talk and relieve the tension and nerves.” …So great right?! First looks not only make for a more efficient and succinct timeline, it also gives you more time with the one person you want to see most on one of the most important days of your lives. Winning all around. I also asked Kate what her advice would be to someone planning their own wedding. She said: know what you want as a couple and to not be persuaded by other people’s desires for your wedding. If a couple has a clear vision of what they want and sticks to it, they won’t be overwhelmed by endless options and will be able to make decisions and move on with the planning process. Such great advice.

Congratulations Brady & Kate. We were so honored to document your day. We look forward to keeping up with your many travels and on location history lessons for years to come. Know that you always have a dinner date in Portland!
