Kelly, Anthony & Cruz will always have the title of our first official clients here in Portland. Having photographed Anthony’s cousin’s wedding a couple years prior, they reached out to us about family photos in November of 2014. Kevin and I were super excited to have booked our first official Portland portrait session for people that we didn’t know. I put the time and date on our calendar, set the notification, and went back to unpacking our kitchen in our new home. A week later, my phone rings…it’s Kelly. “Hi…we are supposed to be having photos done by you guys today?…We were scheduled for 3:00PM?” It was at least 4:15PM. Cue emotional freak out. How on earth did I let this happen?! I have never NEVER missed a shoot. Frantically looking at my phone, I realized I had set the session for exactly 1 week TOO LATE. Nonetheless, Kelly and Anthony were so gracious and told me to head over. I shot their session in terrible light, did no justice to their ridiculously adorable and perfectly decorated house they had just purchased, and just knew…I should have/could have done better. I left that session with the worst feeling in my stomach. They were so kind, and funny, and just all around wonderful. I went home to Kevin and said something along the lines of “We could have been great friends if I hadn’t made such a horrible first impression!”. Through tears of course. I was a wreck. But thankfully, the story doesn’t end there. To make an already long story a little shorter, I will just say that between delivering their photos and and communicating back and forth we got our families together to hang out. We have shared meals, memories, craft nights, holidays, sporting events, movies, birthday parties and beach days. Cruz is right in between Abraham and Israel as far as age goes and they have so much fun together. It is super sweet. So while Kelly, Anthony & Cruz will always have the title of our first official clients here in Portland, they quickly became some of our nearest and dearest friends. Here are some portraits from their sunny family portrait session from the fall at Westmoreland Park. It took a year, but I was so happy to finally deliver them the pictures I knew they deserved.
